What is CBD?

CBD is an acronym for Cannabidiol, an exciting cannabinoid that occurs naturally in cannabis. It is found in leaves, flowers, seeds, and the stalk of cannabis plants that include marijuana and hemp. CBD is among the more than 400 compounds that are found in cannabis. CBD is the most abundant non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis and is being scientifically investigated for various reasons. Although, the most recognized constituent of cannabis is the cannabinoid known as THC, an intoxicating substance that is responsible for causing marijuana users to get high. CBD is a separate cannabinoid and isolated from THC, therefore CBD cannot get you high.

What is CBD Oil?

CBD oil is a cannabis oil (whether derived from marijuana or industrial hemp, as the word cannabis is the Latin genus name for both) that has significant amounts of cannabidiol (CBD) contained within it. Our CBD products and extracts are derived from the leaves, stalks and flowers of industrial hemp, so they could be considered CBD-rich hemp oil, hemp derived CBD oil, CBD-rich cannabis oil, or simply hemp extracts since they typically contain much more than just CBD. Again, cannabis doesn't mean marijuana but is the genus name and general umbrella term which all forms of marijuana and hemp fall under. The form of cannabis we use for our CBD and hemp extracts is industrial hemp; we do not sell marijuana.

How does CBD Work in the Body?

CBD works in the body by activating receptors in the brain and nervous system the endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS is a group of endogenous cannabinoid receptors found in the brain of mammals. It is present throughout the central nervous and peripheral systems. The ECS is composed of neuromodulatory lipids and many endocannabinoid receptors which regulate many mechanisms within the body. The Endocannabinoid system receptors are specifically receptive to cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. CBD is able to interact with cells in our bodies because the molecule has a similar composition to similar chemicals that the human body produces naturally, called endocannabinoids. CBD affects affects many receptors which are responsible for the regulation of many aspcts of the body's systems. Endocannabinoid receptors regulate many bodily functions including:

  • Appetite
  • Digestion
  • Immune Function
  • Memory
  • Mood
  • Motor control
  • Pain
  • Pleasure and reward
  • Reproduction and fertility
  • Sleep
  • Temperature Regulation

What are the side effects of CBD?

CBD side effects are almost negligible. They are certainly nowhere near the often scary side-effects lists that are seen in many FDA approved pharmaceutical products! Perhaps a little stomach discomfort for those on high doses and some very low-level sedative effects. CBD produces no psychoactive effect so there is no high or particular concern about your ability to function normally.

CBD is thought to be a very safe substance, but patients taking other medications should check with their doctor about drug interactions, which are more likely when consuming high doses of single-molecule CBD products.

How much CBD should I take?

The CBD dosage will vary for each person depending on their needs and the conditions they are trying to alleviate. For some applications only a small CDB dose is required to achieve optimal results; in other cases, a higher dosage will be required.

Inhaling hemp products through something like an oil-rig or vaporizer provides the fastest form of relief. When inhaled, the cannabinoids are absorbed through the lungs and are taken into the bloodstream. From there, they have fast access to the brain. This means that the calming, anti-stress properties of CBD can be delivered within seconds.

The most popular method for the consumption of the supplement CBD, is sublingually that has been found to provide relief for most within a matter of minutes. However, if you are looking forward to rejoicing the benefits of CBD over a long period of time, you must ensure that it is being consumed slowly and uniformly.

If you are choosing to take it orally, you must make sure that you are not looking for an effect within 30-60 minutes For the most efficient outcome via the oral route of consumption, make sure that you are consuming it on an empty stomach. Lastly, if you would like to keep the rare but possible side effects of CBD consumptions such as dysphoria or headaches at bay, it would be recommended for you to add the CBD oil in your drink or food. While it will take longer to produce the effect, it will ensure that you don't experience any inconvenient side effects.

Is it possible to overdose on CBD?

No, CBD in high dosages may incur mood or anxiety swings but it will not be lethal. CBD is known to be a very safe substance, but patients taking other medications should check with their doctor about drug interactions.

Do I need to move to Colorado to get your Hemp Extracts and CBD? Where do you ship?

No. Many people are under the impression that the only way to acquire hemp extracts and CBD for themselves or a loved one is to move to Colorado or another cannabis-friendly state. Many major news outlets are misinformed and are unfortunately spreading the idea that you can only get CBD oil in the states where medical marijuana has been legalized. This is simply not the case though. Because our extracts come from hemp instead of marijuana, we can and do ship nationwide, and no medical marijuana card is needed. There are some exceptions, like with South Dakota, where we can't sell our products due to state legislation.

Where do you source your hemp and CBD from?

We use 100% Colorado-grown hemp in our dietary supplement manufacturing.

What kind of testing/analysis is performed on your products?

All our products are tested for quality control, and we have third party laboratories analyze all our products for cannabinoid potency, heavy metals, bacterial and microbial life, mycotoxins (fungus), and pesticides. Test results can be viewed in the product description.
